This often produces frustration and difficulties in families, churches, and communities. The project is an attempt to help participants determine their core faith and resultant beliefs to foster faith development. The intended result is to create attitudes free from fear and condescension. The approach is an integration of scripture, self-esteem, and United Methodist doctrine in a series of sessions that include lecture and discussion. The project did not produce results outside standard deviation. While the traditional assimilation model only takes a person from evangelization to membership in the church, the full assimilation model takes a person all the way from evangelization to maturity in Christ. A long-term preaching plan, if properly understood and implemented, could benefit a pastor greatly.  This long-term preaching plan has been developed and introduced for use at the Church of the Open Bible in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania.  Twenty-seven sermons were crafted using a long-term sermon process that was learned and developed under the tutelage of John Reed at Dallas Theological Seminary.  A descriptive survey assists in the evaluation process.  The same survey was handed out in a pre-test and post-test format to measure the spiritual growth of the congregation in the following areas: comprehension -- knowledge; convictions -- biblical beliefs, attitudes, and values; and conduct -- behavior. The long-term planning process helps the pastor in sermon preparation and assists in the spiritual formation of the local church. The method employed in this project was a question and answer format that revolved around seven ontological questions. The results of the impact study indicated a spiritual transformation took place among the participants. Change also took place in the area of knowledge. Over a period of 13 weeks the author presented stories over each beatitude, using pre-tests and post-tests, to measure any changes on the participant that may have been a result of the story's influence.  One week after the story the author presented a sermon on the previous beatitude to help underscore the point of the story itself.  At the beginning and end of the project, spiritual growth assessment inventories were administered to determine any overall changes in attitude and action.
