The project placed a particular emphasis upon the youth. The context was Grace Reformed Church, Brooklyn, New York. A youth worship service and a vacation Bible school were developed to provide experience and education in God awareness and self-awareness in God. Context associates and senior youth were trained and taught by the researcher in order to develop leaders in the subject area. For six weeks, classroom sessions were held twice a week and the youth conducted the youth worship service on Sundays. The action research model and case study analysis revealed that this intervention improved the general behavior of the youth and indicated a greater commitment to the church of God by young people and adults."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129935588360192,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:23:36.917Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:42:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:12:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a16d4a16-4ae3-4d06-b445-05ee4baa6e32","accessControl_ssim":["a5f0f6bd-4c27-49db-b169-7ea952b4aa7f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["From sideline religion to enduring spirituality: models for growing mature Christians"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:42:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:50:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1d08cb39-117d-4ed0-8c7a-7a86f5fbce06"],"hasLease_ssim":["e3fbb3fd-b14d-4714-9635-245d75a3eda4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Helen Wilcox-Evwaraye"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Mark Wendell Thompson"],"keyword_tesim":["Practice (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (Dayton, OH)"],"subject_tesim":["Faith development","Spiritual life--Christianity","Christian life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The objective of this study was to determine what was causing an African American church to practice their faith at arm's length from God's intent. In three stages of research (qualitative and quantitative) the author utilized a sample group, a control group and five small Bible study groups in one or more of the projects. Data were gathered via profile questionnaires, personal spiritual status indices, and exit interviews. A culturally and denominationally sensitive manual was developed and tested during the thesis project. Positive results were observed and measured in each stage of the three projects."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130720500973568,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:36:05.468Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:18:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:38:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"784402b8-6007-40ea-a41c-92efd108cad0","accessControl_ssim":["b542e5b9-aa6f-4dfe-af8b-f6d8eba57401"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Wonderings and wanderings: women in ministry at midlife, framing questions, seeking answers"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:18:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:40:00Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["671cc8f0-f027-46db-9445-04cfdbed598b"],"hasLease_ssim":["347b06a6-4028-4350-a5f5-df53bf1af618"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Morven R Baker"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["JoAnn A Shade"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Faith development","Women clergy","Diaries","Hagar"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project's purpose was to invite women in ministry at midlife to articulate and clarify their vocational identity and direction. A directed journal (workbook) applied a feminist hermeneutic to the Hagar narrative, and was completed by twenty-four midlife women in ministry. Accessing disciplines of the arts, personal narrative development, and spiritual formation practices, participants interacted with themes of identity, paradox. direction, God image, voice, grief, fear, movement, and community. The author used an ethnographic study, research into spirituality, Biblical leadership and hospitality, the Reformed tradition, and lessons from study groups convened to foster spiritual growth for CPC leaders. The author developed two additional tools--a Rule of Life spiritual guide and a year-round stewardship program.
