It is difficult to be constructive and caring when emotional tensions are high. Most people never acquire the understanding and knowledge which conflict management requires.  This paper demonstrates that family systems theory can be combined in the analysis and constructive response to conflict.  One can be hard on the issues but soft on the people involved. It is possible to teach conflict management skills as one manages conflict. The project sought through television to focus on needs expressed by the audience, allowing the audience to make a direct response to the counselors on the program.  The report outlines a theological basis for the concept of using television as a means of ministry to people in need.  Methodology included a critique of television and the church's response, which included examples of programming. This project attempts to bring to the forefront the realities of incest by reviewing some statistical information and published literature on incest within a feminist framework.  It also presents the voices of seventeen young women who were incest victims.  A profile of the incestuous family based on the seventeen testimonies is offered in the form of a case study which is written in the voice of the victim/survivor and has a Christian slant. This project introduces the pastor in Monroe County, New York, to the Therapeutic Alternatives for Sexually Abused Children and Their Families (TASA) program.  TASA deals with incest, intrafamily sexual abuse through the court system and with therapeutic alternatives. The dynamics of an incestuous family are explored as well as ways in which the pastor may become an intervenor in an incestuous family.  The project concludes that incest occurs in greater frequency than most individuals are aware. The pastor is a potentially powerful source in intervention and in ministering to the families. Research shows an emerging theme of family idolatry.  This idolatry is contrasted with a demystified appreciation of the family's normal experience of crises. With this as prolegomena, and from the author's personal and pastoral experience, a six-principle definition of family wholeness is developed.  Preventable family crises are defined, and a framework for prevention of these crises is described. The theoretical work of Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy concerning dialectic, loyalty and justice is evaluated and criticized.  He studies the family system from an existential perspective and integrates obligations to and responsibility for intergenerational loyalty commitments.  Case presentations are used to show how one pastoral therapist used IFTT from a Christian perspective.  Recognizing loyalty as the backbone of a family system, the pastoral counselor defines a family's understanding of loyalty obligations and constructs a framework which encourages psychological, emotional, and spiritual loyalty commitments to surface and be integrated in a healthy, relational context.  Understanding justice can help a pastoral counselor pray for a family's unresolved injustices. Part 2 of the paper deals with four actual counseling cases.  In each case the unique theoretical aspects of pastoral counseling are applied practically. These cases deal with: 1) depression, 2) family systems, 3) exhibitionism, 4) schizoid personality and family systems. As families conduct a ministry event together, they will increase communication and interpersonal concern for their fellow members. Three tools judged the effect of family ministry team participation. These tools included an entrance/exit interview, interdependence inventory, and a post-event debriefing session with the family.
