Mentors were enlisted for training in biblical principles concerning the ministry of mentorship, the happy functioning of a Christian family, and the distinctive biblical teachings concerning the various family roles. Training consisted of four sessions which were held on a Friday evening and a Saturday morning as part of a seminar for senior adults. The project director wrote and presented a vision for mentoring ministry and the path for the steps needed to achieve the vision. The experiences of planning the seminar, teaching the seminar, and evaluating the seminar provided valuable insight into the process of training senior adult mentors. The project director became convinced that faithful Christian senior adults are the greatest untapped resource for instruction and encouragement in family living for younger adults. The author evaluated the differences in the relationship between husband and wife after they went through a financial stewardship program. Throughout the process, the practicum observed how this concept of family could effectively function to support the participants to build a close relationship with each other and to identify themselves as part of the whole church family in a small group setting. The project was conducted for four weeks from May 22 to June 12, 2005. Fifteen people recruited from the church. The class met every Sunday from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. during the period. In the class, the participants explored the meaning of being a healthy church family in light of biblical and Korean family models and established an intimate relationship with each other. They were also encouraged to practice spiritual disciplines as daily assignments. The practicum enabled participants to identify the church as their own spiritual family and perceive one another as their brothers and sisters in Christ. Their spiritual growth has influenced other members to recognize a new movement around the church.
