Spiritual gifts are expressed and may be found in a variety of levels of conscious behavior. The project offers a community model for discernment of gifts as a balance between the subjectivity of spiritual gifts inventories and the objective psychological implications of type theory. Fifteen newly elected deacons participated in in-depth training to gain better understanding of spiritual gifts and their use in deacon ministry, attending eleven classes as a part of the project.  The entire diaconate participated in a small portion of the project. The project involved academic study and research at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Hardin-Simmons University. The new deacons fully participated in the Deacon Training Class and are using their spiritual gifts in ministry at Pioneer Drive. Working within the Catholic tradition the study utilizes the Whiteheads' methodology and engages charism, general chapter, and facilitation ministry in dialogue with a 'thick description' (Browning) of a multicultural general chapter.  Evidence emerges to indicate that attentiveness to the dynamism of charism through facilitation postively influenced the general chapter's through conflict to communion. The project focused on the spiritual gifts of evangelism, administration, encouragement, shepherding, showing mercy, service, giving, teaching, and prophecy. Activities included training sessions, completing a spiritual gifts inventory, and participating in field experiences.  Evaluation included pre-test and post-test questionnaires, expert opinion, interviews, and critical observation.
