Chapter 1 identified the challenges facing the church and defined the project's purpose. Chapter 2 explored the biblical concepts of spiritual gifts with special emphasis on the implications of spiritual possession and its relationship with the individual personality. Chapter 3 articulated the implications of using the Enneagram personality typologies as a tool for liberating the spirit within the individual. Chapter 4 outlined the Spiritual Gifts Workshop used to implement the program. Chapter 5 evaluated the effects of the workshop within both a short-term (six week) and long-term (five year) framework. This is especially perplexing in light of the belief that when a person is born again, he or she receives the Holy Spirit and is thereby equipped and capable of fruitful Christian life.  Southern Baptists need not concede their biblical doctrine in order to explain and overcome this phenomenon.  While it is true that a person receives the Holy Spirit at the moment of conversion, some Southern Baptists fail to teach their converts how to recognize his work and how to relate to him as a person.  Hence, he is grieved, his work is quenched, and life in Christ become stagnant and unfruitful. This project will delve into the fruitlessness of inactive Christians and demonstrate how the major Christian disciplines are an outgrowth of the Holy Spirit's work in a believer's life. The project enlists participants in experimental and control groups, administering a self-analysis that reveals the understanding and recognition of gifts. Members of the experimental group begin their training with the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory to help them grasp unique aspects of their personalities, and then work through seven sessions studying the biblical basis for spiritual gifts in order to understand how God may have equipped them to serve in the church.
