The entire diaconate participated in a small portion of the project. The project involved academic study and research at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Hardin-Simmons University. The new deacons fully participated in the Deacon Training Class and are using their spiritual gifts in ministry at Pioneer Drive. Evidence emerges to indicate that attentiveness to the dynamism of charism through facilitation postively influenced the general chapter's through conflict to communion. The project conducts a quantitative and qualitative evaluation with 30 volunteers.  Pre-test and post-test comparisons analyzed significant differences in attitude, knowledge, and behavior in program participants and a control group. The project focused on the spiritual gifts of evangelism, administration, encouragement, shepherding, showing mercy, service, giving, teaching, and prophecy. Activities included training sessions, completing a spiritual gifts inventory, and participating in field experiences.  Evaluation included pre-test and post-test questionnaires, expert opinion, interviews, and critical observation. The project involved a series of workshops that taught people a variety of spiritual exercises and the biblical/theological foundations for spiritual gifts; provided definitions for the gifts of the Spirit listed in Scripture; and, discussed the implications of gifts discovery in the life of the congregation.  The workshop participants answered pre-workshop and post-workshop questionnaires which were analyzed according to the contributions of psychological type theory. The project involved the use of the experimental method with statistical evaluations of experimental and control groups.  The experimental group completed a training course consisting of thirteen sessions, and evaluation method tested the effectiveness of the course. Pretests and posttests measured a statistically significant increase in both knowledge and use of spiritual gifts.
