The pedagogical method as well as the content in the resource is based on principles of evolution, as described by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, S.J., a Jesuit scientist of the early 20th century. This paper describes how the resource is grounded in the faith development work of James Fowler, uses the dynamics of contemplative dialogue and small group interaction, and is informed by theories of transformative learning for adults. I also demonstrate how Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s work reflects a Process Philosophy view of God and the universe and is related to consciousness development and patterns of Christian spiritual growth, in particular, the spiritual tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860336298164224,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:20.299Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ca779254-8e13-4692-aec5-df627ba64db1","accessControl_ssim":["6c8b488d-bc94-4c52-8e5b-c0cd0a31ae2a"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["A group therapy project within the pastor-parish setting: A dissertation submitted to the faculty in candidacy for the degree of Doctor of Ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3402f84e-9222-42c1-a5ad-e6dc11577d61"],"hasLease_ssim":["4ccd41ec-8f74-4eda-af42-57571f1f0172"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Pastors who are responsive to these approaches are often soon faced with a set of fundamental questions, such as these: How much and what type of counseling should the pastor provide? Should it be limited to support, to pastoral care? Might it include teaching as well as support? Under what circumstances might it involve counseling in the more formal sense of the term, or, even more intensively for the adequately prepared pastor, therapy? When might any of these be better carried out in a group setting, as opposed to one on one? Moreover, implicitly if not out in the open, there are questions of the church’s involvement in the ministry of counseling: Is it a conscious mission of the particular congregation to provide its pastor to persons or groups as a counselor? Is it appropriate for its pastor to be devoting significant amounts of time to such a ministry? Is the church setting even a proper place for counseling–or, more intensively, therapy–to be conducted? This report could be called a descriptive study or “case study.” It tells the story of a pastor, and a congregation group of parishioners and non-parishioners as a particular group counseling program in the local church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860281225904128,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:26:27.778Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-05-23T16:16:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-05-23T16:16:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f7a4f294-b1c4-4245-a0d4-8bb35895d530","accessControl_ssim":["8f4adb33-55a1-42e5-bc9e-c4f9bb62bbb5"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Evangelism via Tools of Digital Communication The Benefits of Alpha Online Courses"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-05-23T16:16:27Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-05-23T16:16:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c9ce1b25-0c4f-4571-b4e4-27e8a12e32ab"],"hasLease_ssim":["1c9464e5-5c99-4482-b421-0d5351fa5ae9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. During the years of the Corona Virus pandemic, numbers of digitally mediated meetings via Zoom skyrocketed. Likewise, many churches that previously conducted the Alpha Course via the in-person format made a transition to offer the Alpha Online Course. This research project has sought to understand and articulate the spiritual dynamics of an Alpha Online Course with particular attention to\r\npeople who converted to faith through the online medium. This researcher explored how a local church might spread the gospel and reach people effectively in the digital realm through interactive online meetings, and why it should consider this way of evangelism as a viable means of evangelism.\r\n\r\nIncorporating evidence from literature, Scripture, participant observation, and twenty qualitative interviews, this study argues that the Alpha Course offered via the Zoom video conference has the potential to create a social space that is equal to if not preferred to in person courses. Alpha Course Online is an effective means of evangelism. It provides the participant(s) as well as the facilitator(s) with a means to balance the degree of closeness and distance. \r\n\r\nIn contrast to in-person Alpha Courses, Alpha Online provides people an opportunity to participate in emotionally and spiritually engaging meetings. This study shows that participants adjust quickly to the digital format and in this setting may engage in discussion, expressing their thoughts clearly and handling their emotions self-responsibly without embarrassment. The Alpha Course Online allows both intimacy and privacy at the same time. It enables people to reach a deeper level of conversation more quickly than expected. Hence, Alpha Online is more than a supplement; it represents a possible solution to overcome reservations of facilitators, as well as participants regarding evangelism."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1832928667211137024,"timestamp":"2025-05-23T16:16:33.724Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-05-22T15:08:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T15:08:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7ea8dec6-71fc-4f82-9dd7-4965530581a3","accessControl_ssim":["b02334b2-6a18-4d01-89cd-8fe5d9b6a4c4"],"depositor_ssim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"title_tesim":["Equipping Selected Adults of Istrouma Baptist Church’s Ascension Campus in Ascension, Louisiana, with Micro-Group Leadership Skills"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-05-22T15:08:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T15:08:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["476e6cac-33a1-4036-b1f7-a0d7ce70f2df"],"hasLease_ssim":["6aa13e9a-e874-4e9e-94d7-d655608aeecc"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["D.Min."],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Dr. Reggie Ogea"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"location_tesim":["Louisiana"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Ultimately, this project sought to equip Christians with the confidence and competency to minister to fellow sinners and sufferers with the truth of the gospel and the love of Jesus Christ."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131706904805376,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:51:46.176Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:56:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:34:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"286717a2-ed23-4b41-9bc7-936b04280979","accessControl_ssim":["a63ac1dd-cbad-4348-adb4-081f40297b16"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Anglican elders? : shared pastoral leadership in Anglican churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:56:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:18:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d2fa0421-5a9b-4132-a264-d119c14a608c"],"hasLease_ssim":["ed2f94ae-8766-4391-ab8b-e9c49f7314f2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bruce McRae"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"location_tesim":["United Kingdom"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Christopher David Edward Moll"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy","Group ministry","Leadership--Religious aspects","Pastoral theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Because the Church of England is historically clerical, the incumbent pastor formally shares the pastoral burden or cure of souls with the Bishop. Evangelical Anglicans are impelled by both Scripture and mission to consider the New Testament pattern of plural local leaders or elders. This research explored the experience of Anglican ministers and church planters who established locally-shared shared pastoral leadership through a Ministry Leadership Team (MLT).The purpose of the research was to explore the benefits of shared leadership for making and maturing disciples. In surveying the literature advocating the benefits and biblical precedents of shared leadership, it was noted that in contrast to other evangelicals, Anglicans apply the biblical data using the Normative Principle derived from the work of Richard Hooker. Four questions guided the research: (1) How does the local church’s shepherding ministry strengthen the work of making disciples? (2) What are the benefits of a ministry leadership team in the work of making disciples? (3) What practices have promoted collaborative working between members of the ministry leadership team, with particular regard to the work of making disciples Church? (4) How is the pastors’ Anglican self-identity manifest in the practice of shared local ministry leadership?Nine UK pastors were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire with the data analyzed using the constant comparative method. Common and clear benefits are articulated by the respondents. The lay offices of churchwarden and PCC were also re- evaluated with respect to the responsibilities outlined in the New Testament for churchofficers. The respondents exhibited a clear and confessional Anglican identity. Possible models for accommodating a MLT within the existing parochial structures are explored. Finally it was noted that in these theologically complementarian churches, the role and place of female pastoral leaders was not fully resolved."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["http://covenantlibrary.org/etd/2017/Moll_Ed_DMin_2017.pdf"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130621366501377,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:34:30.926Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:43:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:51:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3cd3e262-1c6b-433b-b029-e9e905d5aaff","accessControl_ssim":["a02b7fad-cd49-4f23-80cf-214a2091a5ef"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Giving up control : a process of group spiritual formation for leading church governing boards from maintaining control to giving permission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:43:34Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:53:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4a3f8445-aa93-466d-9911-9aebe98a0ab9"],"hasLease_ssim":["e8628077-1f65-4832-81b2-f8e0dbcdd02e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"location_tesim":["Illinois"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. As evidenced in this project, a revelation determined the course and became the impetus of promoting spiritual growth in church leadership. Chapter One focuses on the component of self-discovery and the realization that church governing bodies, specifically Chatham (Illinois) Presbyterian Church, was in need of a change in direction and development during a period of exceptional growth. Chapter Two explains that transformation encompasses all spiritual components of a church body, all driven by a common goal of influencing the congregation, especially when church membership and participation is in a nationwide decline. Chapter Three illustrates the process of spiritual transformation for the 21st century and the path toward giving up control to God. The worldview of the Church must change in order to be set apart from all other organizations. Chapter Four offers several means to understand what it means to 'give up control of one's life to God.' Defining this term as submission, it is understood that submission is a voluntary act by which one yields either to the authority of another, or in the case of equals, yields to another because it is called for in the relationship. Chapter Five describes the process and experience of the Session of Chatham Presbyterian Church on the spiritual formation and spiritual direction path toward transformation. Session members/Elders had expressed a desire for a deeper spiritual experience and the application began in earnest. Chapter Six details responses given by Session members/Elders to interview questions regarding the spiritual formation process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135496495169536,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:52:00.211Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:43:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:53:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"77453a8d-b755-4d13-b3d3-5db0a5fd773d","accessControl_ssim":["d0edf32b-971b-455e-8889-4a4705dc1519"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The five tools of team leadership : a collegial and collaborative leadership development process"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:43:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:38:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d3206fd2-b141-44bc-8a51-f6934de047fb"],"hasLease_ssim":["e9c6c5e5-5b72-47f3-a57c-101df905d100"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Yet as vital as team ministry is to the church, a disheartening number of those teams end up accomplishing very little and either end their time together in frustration or continue in m ediocrity. While there are doubtless many reasons for this poor performance record, they often boil down to poor leadership of the team. Teams are vital to church ministry and leaders are vital to team ministry so it is essential for churches to train team leaders in skills that enable effective and encouraging leadership. Based on research, interviews and experience five characteristics of effective team leadership immerge: great leaders glow, great leaders love, great leaders vision, great leaders plan and great leaders coach. Training in each of these characteristics can help ensure that ministry teams in a church have the leadership they need to prosper. The 5 Tools of Team Leadership: A Collegial and Collaborative Leadership Development Process is a learning process designed around those 5 leadership characteristics and a small group of leaders lead by a coach or mentor. In group sessions and between group sessions the participants learn from each other and from a set of teaching materials that expound on those 5 leadership characteristics how to lead their ministry teams more effectively. The process absolutely depends on a group dynamic of openness, love and acceptance. The process invites the Holy Spirit to use the process to maximize the leadership potential of each individual."],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://repository.westernsem.edu/xmlui/handle/1866/1582"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135580319383552,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:53:20.152Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
