Because Baptist missionary work started in Korea much later than other denominations, many of the Korean Southern Baptist church leaders come from non-Baptist evangelical backgrounds.  As a result, many of them are continuing practices of their old denomination under the name of Baptists.  These leaders need orientation and training to the Southern Baptist denomination.  The pastors and the church leaders who engaged in the project were trained and motivated to use the manual to increase their understanding of Southern Baptist distinctives, its programs in a local church, the denominational agencies and their missions. Reference materials relating to pastoral care as hospice care were examined.  The biblical and theological understanding of death and dying were also reviewed. Interviews were conducted for volunteer hospice caregivers, hospice medical doctors, hospice chaplains, dying patients, and the bereaved families.
