Ten men and women in the Dalton District of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church committed four weeks to the project.  The district superintendent was the convener, a co-participant, and provided leadership by precept and example.  Sessions included theological foundations of wellness, a medical evaluation of each participant, identification of healthy eating and exercise habits, and application of learnings to the local church and community.  All participants met at least one of their goals relating to diet and/or exercise. This project describes the AIDS crisis as a test case for Christ's mandate to 'love one another as I have loved you.' Details include a month-long educational emphasis with adult and youth classes, a community-wide seminar, bulletin board display, sermon outline and preparations for formulating an AIDS policy statement.
