Multiple forms of demographic data were considered in order to identify the age ranges, socio-economic status, and behaviors that contribute to students becoming at-risk. Interviews with local and state agencies along with local school officials were conducted to ascertain what forms of assistance are available to students and if any proactive interventions are in place to prevent students from slipping into the at-risk category. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and the results reveal a burgeoning vocational imagination with participants displaying a personal relationship with God, a growing engagement of participation in God's purpose for the world, a willingness to engage actively in vocational discernment, an ability to connect understandings of self with life commitments of vocation, and a passion to meet the needs of others. This study evaluates the methodology used in the delivery of a character-based program focused on universal principles in the context of relationships among public high school students at North Cobb high school in Kennesaw, Georgia.  While not an exhaustive study of character education, this study explores a successful method of facilitating character development.  Three research questions have guided this study: 1. What was the level of character in the target group at North Cobb high school at the beginning of the program? 2. How did the level of character change in the target group at North Cobb high school because of the program? 3. What was the quality of treatment given? The research design procedure follows the nonrandomized control-group pretest-posttest design delineated from the Handbook in research and evaluation.  The research results indicated that there was no difference between the two groups concerning immediate feelings about post-high school plans (state anxiety). The project did so through the high school's active support of parish youth retreats, through encouragement of student involvement in the ministries of the parish and through providing school time and space for interaction of the parish staffs and their youth on a quarterly basis.  A pre- and post-project self-report questionnaire was administered to the student participants as a means of determining the success of the project. The concern for service carries out the practices of the Society of Friends (Quakers).  The question studied was the effects of requiring community service.  Pre and post test measures were taken using instruments to measure self-esteem, social and personal responsibility.  Interview and group discussion were used to gather data.  The students in this study showed a significant increase in social and personal responsibility.  Self-esteem did not change significantly.
