Muslim attitudes toward Christianity are analyzed as expressed in the literature of the period and in a field study conducted in 2011-2012. The theme of God's saving victory is identified as an aid in helping Muslims understand the Bible. Jesus' person and work are explained in terms that are more comprehensible to Muslims. Muslim attitudes toward Egypt's Christians are explored. Conclusions are drawn about how the two communities need to build trust and peaceful co-existence particularly in the post-Arab Spring environment in Egypt."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129501865869313,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:16:43.287Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:24:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:24:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c8097684-b0ef-48de-b5c3-289c22b15944","accessControl_ssim":["f346eb18-b2e5-4237-9c2a-6468371e90cc"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Because of their faith, they took action! Their town was founded to be a hub on the Underground Railroad. While many citizens of Geneseo today know that, they do not know that the founding of the town was part of an organized national strategy put forth by seminarians at Harvard and activists from western New York. This project will serve as a permanent resource in the Geneseo, Illinois Historical Museum. For the first time visitors will be able to discover in a comprehensive way the connections that have been made between the founders of Geneseo and the larger abolitionist movement of 19th-century America. This project chronicles the journeys of the Geneseo founding families, particularly the Allan brothers William and James. As the United Methodist Church, as well as other churches, continue their march through the twenty-first century it will be prudent to reconnect with our entrepreneurial past, and use the tools available to us today to transition aging and declining small churches into growing centers of vital, life-changing ministry. This book briefly explores the entrepreneurial spirit of the early pioneers of the American Methodist movement and how recapturing the passion of their entrepreneurial spirit and using proven small business development principles can renew and transition and aging and sleepy small church into a center of vital, life-changing ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716646231736320,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:05:42.320Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:49:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:36:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ed57af68-fb65-4b34-b2a3-e61e8e359c6f","accessControl_ssim":["c3dc807b-979e-4e7d-8002-01a00f4e5c4a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching a disturbing Gospel: the place of a salvationist homiletic in postmodern times"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:49:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:54:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8bba29f5-790c-405d-89f6-f5c8f960fdb4"],"hasLease_ssim":["dc278757-52c9-4ae4-861f-b4d72a2e5501"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Luther Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard N Rehfeldt"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Julie A Slous"],"keyword_tesim":["Preaching, Salvation Army"],"publisher_tesim":["Luther Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Expository preaching","Salvation Army","History","Preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Recognizing the complexity of 21st-century context, this study asks how the difficult claims of the Gospel might be heard and embraced by a complacent postmodern audience. Drawing on the history of early Salvation Army preaching into critical conversation with the felt realities of postmodernity, this thesis argues for a recovery of biblical preaching that seeks to name what is at stake for the listener. Identifying the transformational homiletic that defined the preaching of William and Catherine Booth, foundation is laid for assimilation and re-contextualization of confrontational preaching, inviting contemporary preachers to recognize the significance of the homiletical moment before them."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130758417481728,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:36:41.627Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":61,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
