Spiritual assessment occurred while providing pastoral care through emotional support and active listening. Considered along with the medical and psychological assessments, a holistic understanding and treatment of the patient was achieved. A greater sense of healing, harmony of body, mind and spirit was achieved. This thesis was tested in a workshop with the elders of Sparta Baptist Church. Three inventories evaluated their level of faith, love and hope, respectively. These were accompanied by teaching about the triad's implications for holistic formation of church members and ministry focus.
