As a faculty member of this college, the purpose of this study was to develop my understanding of holistic education, working in collaboration with faculty and students at Providence University College and faculty at a select group of sister schools outside of Providence. This study involved interviewing sixteen Christian higher education faculty members and conducting seven focus groups involving the student leadership and faculty of Providence University College and Seminary. As happiness had been experienced while seeking wholeness, so I came to develop a program of recovering the image of God using the process. Based on a model of seven dimensions of Clinebell, ten practical methods of promoting the holistic growth were ironed out. These models are easy to use for everyone because they are related to loving God and one's neighbors. The writer researched and discussed the degree of fitness from four different perspectives: mental, physical, social, and spiritual. Having used the quantitative and pro-active research methods, the writer established a fitness program in which participants committed to exercising at least three times a week for a minimum of thirty minutes per workout session. This thesis was tested in a workshop with the elders of Sparta Baptist Church. Three inventories evaluated their level of faith, love and hope, respectively. These were accompanied by teaching about the triad's implications for holistic formation of church members and ministry focus. The thesis has two parts. The first part has two chapters. It begins with the study of characters of the Bible, which points to a holistic view of man. Next is the study of sin, which is split into the guilt of sin and the shamefulness of sin. This sinfulness will cause people to live in bondage, oppression, and blindness. The second part of the thesis has three chapters, covering Jesus' ministry on earth. It first analyzes how he proclaims freedom for the prisoners, recovers sight foe the blind, and releases the oppressed. Then, this is paralleled to the situation which modern man lives in. Next, it discusses how the pastoral staff brings people to the goal of holistic redemption. Finally, it recommends that when the pastoral staff is leading believers, they should establish a people-oriented shepherding team-ministry that provides an environment for holistic redemption. It also recommends that they should establish the structure of a believer's life with small group ministries and with worship ministries.
