The project had three goals. First, it sought to increase the knowledge of the leaders of the church regarding the nature and function of the church. The second was to create an environment of openness to the leadership of the Holy Spirit among the church leaders in worship, ministry and the planning process. A literature review revealed several areas where preachers believe the Spirit brings anointing to a sermon including the personal preparation of the preacher, the sermon, the listener, the preaching event itself, and the Word of God.  A survey of 178 Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) pastors was conducted.  The thesis of this study is that people anticipate different evidence of the Spirit's presence and activity with a primary focus on emotion or content.
