The goal was to demonstrate and encourage a thorough integration so that organizational wisdom might be informed, anchored and enriched by scriptural teaching. This goal was achieved through program development. The core biblical theme of hospitality was traced through Scripture, and juxtaposed with the four-lens approach of Bolman and Deal's Reframing organizations. Yet, despite its central location in the Bible's life and praxis, it remains in many churches today undervalued or ignored in the discipleship process. This thesis explores the implications of biblical hospitality and centers theme within a local church's discipleship process. The goal is to change participants' perspectives on their own role as hospitable disciples participating in the Great Commission. The method of research included comparing pre- and post-survey data. Discrimination against and maltreatment of Southeastern migrant workers in Korea have been serious social problems. This project researched the essential characteristics of the spirit of hospitality in the Bible through examining the Israelite as the 'ger,' the hospitality of Abraham and the maltreatment of Sodom, the hospitality of Jesus, and the hospitality of Paul. Treatment included a sermon/workshop series re: biblical hospitality in postmodern culture. A post-test was administered which showed significant shift in the attitude of those who were in the core group. The Virginia United Methodist Annual Conference offered to welcome those made homeless by this storm. This thesis examines ways in which local churches responded to and reached out to evacuees re-located into their community. It includes a working theology of mission. An embrace of biblical hospitality moves mission from a 'helper/helpee' relationship to a transformational mission in which all are changed. It argues that such a change is possible through intensive guided meditations and group discussions over a thirty-day period.  It demonstrates that such change is lasting and supports the affirmation that such a core-value change can affect the ministry of the whole congregation.
