He examined biblical texts and early church writings to illustrate hospitality as an experience of grace. The author then raised questions regarding the appropriate personal and social responses to that grace. Because of his Katrina experience, both people and pastor re-learned that hospitality was a necessary practice in the faith community. The methodology included a survey, preaching and teaching about hospitality, group participant journals and field notes. The findings revealed an increased understanding of the importance and complexity of the practice of hospitality in the church.
