This project proposes to establish implications for mission and evangelism for small churches in multicultural contexts through identification of the mission orientation, cultural mores, and welcoming practices that give them their own congregational identities.  In so doing congregations will come to recognize the distinguishing features and qualities that make them what they are. The theological principle will suggest that the congregation needs to move away from viewing itself as the family of God or a fellowship, to an understanding of itself as the people of God.  Research will explain the difference between: the concept of a neighborhood church and that of a metropolitan church; new developing neighborhoods and stable communities; and small churches and large churches. This approach has confused the pastoral identity of some students. The present study explores the use of religious history in clinical settings to clarify pastoral identity and enhance professional growth.  A basic clinical unit was designed to make extensive use of religious history. The autobiographical and reflective data which has been shared by the participants has been organized around and is used to illustrate three significant thematic expressions of the nature and effect of those factors. A parallel is drawn between cultural gender definitions and male god representation functions. The paper found that an aspect of the counselor's identity which is not well developed has an adverse influence on the counseling relationship.  An aspect of the counselor's identity which is mature has a positive influence on the relationship. The expression of this narrative quality in Christian worship is primary to the formation of Christian identity.  A study group assembled to investigate the narrative function in Christian faith and worship.  They developed a series of worship experiences based on a narrative understanding and evaluated them for increased awareness of Christian identity of the worshiper.
