By integrating feminism, object relations theory, and theology a theory is created which evaluates the meaning of females' traditional Christian faith as that affects psychological development. A parallel is drawn between cultural gender definitions and male god representation functions. In accepting the third step the alcoholic states that he or she has made a decision 'to turn my life and will over to the care of God as I understand Him.'  The author tested the alcoholics with Gorsuch's Adjective Check List and Justice's Family and God Survey.  The data revealed that fourteen alcoholics out of the eighty-three tested had harsh God-images. Historical research and personal observation point to the inadequacy of the institutional and human services approach.  The project includes church volunteers and persons with disabilities.
