The author has taken a theological, historical and missiological approach to the challenge of developing young mission leaders today to engage an increasingly urban world of poverty, religions, violence, and clashing civilizations. In this qualitative study of one particular congregation, the vital relationship between the praxis of evangelism and how we understand Christian identity will be examined.  A brief survey in the Gospel narratives will be offered to observe the role of Jesus' identity in his ministry and evangelistic witness.  A theological review of the modern reductionism of the gospel and the praxis of evangelism in North America will lead toward a renewed biblical framework for each, rooted in the reign of God. Jesus Christ the sacramental Word of the God of the poor is the Source of preaching.  The author used traditional theological methodology with a preference toward Latin American theologians.  He also interviewed several Mexican and Brazilian theologians.  In the last chapter, the author included two homilies evaluated by parishioners and theologians.
