Schleiermacher, Barth, Bultmann, Tillich and Moltmann are considered as most important from theological literature. Freud, Jung, Frankl, Maslow, Rogers and May are the psychologists discussed. A case presentation is utilized to allow an interpretation of theological and psychological constructs. Specific conclusions and implications are drawn for pastoral care, theological education, church ministry and lay application. The basic constructs and conclusions of the work were presented to four different pastoral care audiences and the feedback from the participants is presented."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Northern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e84517db-6a02-4e61-8d84-c85c5905f6d5"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127220571340800,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:40:27.675Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:31:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:30:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e7551f5d-1175-432d-bfc4-699e7302daf8","accessControl_ssim":["473cb56a-5576-4b3e-aaeb-f4b95f510ee5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Christian prayer and active imagination that brings healing"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:31:57Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:44:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7a880831-157d-413f-855c-e68d11297ed3"],"hasLease_ssim":["113bdd70-78a8-4f31-8a1d-c91a20abf0f9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Henry C Brooks"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert Henry Masciocchi"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Faith","Grace (Theology)","Imagination","Jung, C. The paper shows that the faith of the counselee can bring forgotten material to awareness and to resolution when prayer is used in the process of active imagination. The notion of active imagination is found in the works of C G Jung. Qualities of active imagination in some of the commentaries on Jung are listed. After examining the effects of original sin, the author examines the process of redemption that seeks to heal these wounds of human nature. He then takes an in-depth look at grace and faith in this process of healing and examines the understanding of prayer as an instrument of this entire process. Christ-centered prayer has a special power. Actual cases of counseling, prayer and active imagination help to understand the results of such a procedure to the counselee. The minister is truly counselor and pastor as the Holy Spirit brings light and healing."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134165871099904,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:30:51.229Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:30:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:15:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"24974d8b-b041-4fac-bb14-b18158de0489","accessControl_ssim":["d50215bf-1f30-4bdb-976f-2c39c602fe68"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Some pastoral implications of Jung's concept of 'shadow'"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:30:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:12:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["df47abe9-86a2-4a8e-ae9c-709e4bd6fbe1"],"hasLease_ssim":["2a358570-79ea-4307-b175-d44dba92a8cd"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["John R Higgins"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Genia M Haddon"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Shadow (Psychoanalysis)","Jung, C. It focuses on the Shadow, an aspect of human nature and a source of difficulty for the Christian church which has not been dealt with realistically. Jung's concept of the Shadow is examined. Examples of the operation of the Shadow include: the Iranian hostage crisis, the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Salem witch trials, the moral majority, the Ku Klux Klan. A biographical incident is recounted. The traditional anti-Shadow position of the Christian church is described, with examples of theological, doctrinal, moral-ethical, liturgical and architectural over-emphasis on the white-bright-light side. The consequence of over-valuing of purity is described: a repressed Shadow which operates secretly from the unconscious, producing various unwholesome effects. A theological-psychological model relating Shadow and Christ envisions the 'ultimate context' within which each unique therapy unfolds. Through 'crucifixion', neurotic suffering due to one-sided development can be transformed into religiously meaningful suffering."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133176149573633,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:07.357Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:22:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:37:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7174b1e5-e33f-4716-9756-9b09dd43bb8a","accessControl_ssim":["63cd16bf-720b-4d57-a8c6-cb85fedd16ef"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The ministry of healing: a theological and psychological rationale with pastoral aids"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:22:16Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:27:35Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["98bc3968-477f-4919-93ef-fc324a98e3cf"],"hasLease_ssim":["3d963db4-e8c1-4cec-9f31-995759c410be"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["W David Richards","M Eugene Boring"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Larry Eugene Harrelson"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (Silver Valley, Idaho)","Psychology","Spiritual healing","Miracles","Jung, C.
