The course content was developed out of a study of biblical and theological foundations of mission, a review of the history of Korean overseas mission, and a survey of present understandings of mission in these same five churches.  Questionnaires administered before and after the course indicated changed attitudes toward critical issues in overseas missions policy and practice. The results of this project revealed that the teachers have a strong sense of vocation and commitment as teachers.  However, they lack self-confidence as teachers due to their inadequate training and preparation. What can we learn from this comparative study?  Historical background, cultural factors, points of emphasis of each church has a lot to do with growth or decline. However, many local churches of both denominations are growing, if there is the dedication of an able, visionary, and spiritual pastor, committed laity, and ministries which meet the physical and spiritual needs of people in the community.
