There are at least four different adult generations currently living together in America. While this often causes stress throughout the culture, it can be both a blessing to the church and a vital part of advancing the Kingdom of God. Preaching effectively to multiple generations at the same time can help build strong multi-generational churches. Inspiration is drawn from two Baptist proponents of the Social Gospel, Walter Rauschenbusch and Tommy Douglas. Eight sermons were presented in a Canadian Baptist congregation. The sermons tested strategies for preaching three aspects of God's reign: kingdom present, kingdom challenge and kingdom hope. The metanarrative of the kingdom holds potential for bringing together false divisions that have developed in the church.
