It addresses two key research questions: (1) the internal and external factors influencing church multiplication, and (2) the role of theological\r\nframeworks in shaping these practices. \r\n\r\nBridge Church, grounded in the Gospel of the Kingdom theology, emphasizes relational depth, spiritual formation, and organic leadership transitions. While this approach fosters sustainable, mission-aligned growth, it faces challenges such as delayed multiplication and leadership fatigue, often influenced by life-stage constraints and strong relational bonds. In contrast, Green Hill Church adopts principles from the Church Growth Movement (CGM), prioritizing structured training, hierarchical efficiency, and rapid multiplication. Though effective in achieving numerical growth, this pragmatic approach can result in emotional strain, fragmented relationships, and premature leadership assignments.\r\n\r\nThe findings indicate that sustainable church multiplication requires a balance of theological integrity, relational trust, structured leadership pathways, and life-cycle sensitivity. Integrating the relational and theological depth of Kingdom theology with the strategic clarity of CGM offers a promising framework for growth. This study proposes a hybrid model that combines theological formation, mentorship-based leadership development, and adaptive strategies to foster mission-driven, culturally responsive, and inclusive multiplication practices within Korean and Korean immigrant church contexts."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1831295062504374272,"timestamp":"2025-05-05T15:31:06.872Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-02-03T16:37:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-02-03T16:37:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"30a28877-4efe-4c83-8a99-a5b6cef64c7f","accessControl_ssim":["cd2c9081-1645-475e-b14e-2219cef44cae"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["A Pathway of Discipleship to Maturity in Christ Illustrated with Ministry to Iranian Believers"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-02-03T16:37:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-02-03T16:37:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e589724f-5e81-4d57-9043-97596e60d10c"],"hasLease_ssim":["479b5aec-153e-4816-b7ac-27c3216e35e5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This is particularly seen amongst those who come to Christ out of a Muslim background. This study began with the desire to increase the effectiveness of discipleship amongst believers from an Iranian Muslim background. It evolved into an exploration of discipleship, its foundations, its meaning, and a pathway that would lead to maturity in Christ. It centered on the question, “How can I help my brother from a Muslim background grow up to maturity in Christ?”\r\nThis question was also affected by concerns about culture. Each culture has its own priorities and concerns, the ways in which people relate, understand each other, and live together. Respecting all people includes understanding their culture. Yet culture is critiqued under the authority of the Word of God. What can be retained, and what needs to be changed, in a culture in which the people are living under the Lordship of Christ? This led to an exploration of the Kingdom of God and His universal directives in discipleship. It includes His unchanging standard of holiness and love. It includes the spiritual battle in which discipleship takes place, in the process of traveling to the Lord’s goal for each disciple, maturity in Christ. It included questions such as, “What is maturity in Christ?” and “How do I arrive at maturity in Christ?” This study proposes to make a start in the discussion of discipleship to maturity in Christ. It presents principles and a pathway towards this goal. Always in view is the application of this process into the lives of dear brothers and sisters who have come to Christ from a Muslim background, of which some examples are included. May this study be a blessing and help to all believers, particularly to those serving believers from a Muslim background.\r\n\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1823054913319469056,"timestamp":"2025-02-03T16:37:28.231Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-12-06T23:02:42Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-12-06T23:02:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0c77416b-f72c-4c49-afc1-ea0425a73afa","accessControl_ssim":["f808fb41-b8ca-44db-9c52-cfd3a440eefe"],"depositor_ssim":["library@covenantseminary.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["library@covenantseminary.edu"],"title_tesim":["Proclaiming the kingship of Jesus : how pastors proclaim the gospel of the kingdom in a culture awash in pluralism"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-12-06T23:02:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-12-06T23:02:42Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2b35a1ed-8cdf-4e44-9e3a-f1eb57dc0a8b"],"hasLease_ssim":["5ca6ed22-d3c9-4835-8616-cbb91bd21f6e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2023"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Not only is there ongoing confusion about the concept of the kingdom of God, but pastors also proclaim the gospel of the kingdom of God in a culture awash in pluralism.\r\n\r\n Using a basic qualitative research design, this study conducted semi-structured interviews with multiple pastors experienced in preaching the kingdom of God. The interviews focused on gaining data with four research questions: 1) how do pastors describe the kingdom of God is at hand, 2) what challenges do pastors face, 3) what strategies do pastors use, and 4) what outcomes do pastors desire when proclaiming the kingdom of God is at hand to congregations living in pluralistic societies?\r\n\r\n The literature review focused on three key areas to gain a broader understanding proclaiming the kingdom of God is at hand in a pluralistic society: the meaning of Jesus’s proclamation in Mark 1:15, the relationship between the church and the kingdom of God, and the practices of preachers who proclaim the gospel of the kingdom in a pluralistic society.\r\n\r\n This study concluded that greater clarity is needed for pastors who proclaim the kingdom of God is at hand in pluralistic societies. To provide this clarity, this study identified several key components and practices for pastors, including, defining the kingdom of God in the abstract, regularly preaching the kingship of Jesus, humbly addressing kingdom misunderstandings, helping people imagine the kingdom, remembering repentance, and desperate dependence on the Holy Spirit.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://www.covenantlibrary.org/etd/2023/Whitley_Jonathan_DMin_2023.pdf"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["library@covenantseminary.edu"],"_version_":1817733932566708224,"timestamp":"2024-12-06T23:02:45.549Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-05-20T17:13:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-20T17:22:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"40c0a661-6bf6-4cfb-a2c0-c56b41430f79","accessControl_ssim":["173bfe32-c0a8-424f-b740-db753a4aac61"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["f9cb98c6-d4e6-458e-b9e7-ff3792d1503e"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["f9cb98c6-d4e6-458e-b9e7-ff3792d1503e"],"depositor_ssim":["karenmrohrer@gmail.com"],"depositor_tesim":["karenmrohrer@gmail.com"],"title_tesim":["Why I’m Like This: Life in the Shade of a Dying Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-05-20T17:13:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-20T17:21:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e9d6112f-c471-4438-8ce1-a69f8db34620"],"hasLease_ssim":["8555d5cd-1de2-423a-9dfa-f788956c98e8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Chicago Theological Seminary"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. When these church planters were developed through the Multiplication Network’s recommended training program, the author desired to know to what extent can the new churches that were planted could be characterized as healthy congregations, kingdom communities, and reproducing organisms? The author decided to study churches that had matured for approximately four years in order to answer this question. Starting with the total population of church planters who were trained and started new churches in 2016-2017, the author chose a random sample of them. He then surveyed and interviewed not only a percentage of those church planters, but also members of their four-year-old churches.Factors were uncovered that often stood in the way of church realizing their full potential as healthy congregations, kingdom communities, and reproducing organisms, such as: antagonistic cultural forces in wider society and in the hearts of believers, navigating expectations with mother churches, getting derailed by daily pressures, and weak commitment. On the other hand, key beliefs, attitudes, and practices were unearthed that enabled some churches to become healthy congregations, kingdom communities, and—to a lesser extent—reproducing organisms, such as: seeing the local church as a family of faith, centering the life of the church on the Bible, praying for kingdom growth, desiring that non-believers receive salvation, serving sacrificially, and developing leadership potential in others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717108416774144,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:13:03.094Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:09:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:13:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"133f2c6d-bd02-481f-a762-cd143e412b37","accessControl_ssim":["68ecd908-c3fd-4728-91d2-8ba31fc870df"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Serving God through Faithful Stewardship on Our Common Home:Equipping Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and The United Methodist Church of Savage for the Anthropocene"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:09:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:40:58Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["eb4a2f0a-8ab6-41fa-b784-3dac01bf82f2"],"hasLease_ssim":["0a19926a-c6fd-4c24-8e19-6599fac66f00"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Lovett Weems Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2023"],"location_tesim":["United Kingdom","United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Thisportfolio begins with the author’s spiritual autobiography and with thatknowledge the model of spiritual formation was developed. The spiritual modelcan be pictured using an image of a wheel where Christ is placed at the hub (thecenter) of one’s life and is connected to all the spokes (or parts) of one’s life. Themodel works to encourage people to move Christ closer to the center of theirlives, where they can live and have their being in their “true selves,” as God’s willintends.Using this model of spiritual formation, a field research project wasdeveloped to help spiritually form the spiritual leaders of the OakridgePresbyterian Church congregation towards a greater unity in Christ. Using theExamen as a spiritual practice helped guide participants to focus and beintentional about noticing God’s presence in all things and therefore helping tokeep Christ as the centre of their life. The field research component helpeddetermine how the congregation’s spiritual leaders had deepened their awarenessof the presence of God in daily life."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133678917648384,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:23:06.833Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:06:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:38:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7ca826ca-8497-43d5-841b-c0a9429289ce","accessControl_ssim":["5584bc33-4777-47b9-97f3-da5937dd046f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Truth by Surprise: Subverting Expectations of the Kingdom of God through Homiletical Humor"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:06:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:48:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["38beb94f-df2d-4075-9004-2bb9c9fd3fe7"],"hasLease_ssim":["662a6dd5-1c26-446b-bade-c6a808502828"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Mercer University, McAfee School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Brett Younger Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2018"],"location_tesim":["Tennessee","United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. They are long-time church-goers who have attended Sunday school lessons and heard sermons on biblical texts enough to breed a familiarity that can prevent further insight. The preacher must find a way to bypass familiarity, allowing hearers to experience the text anew. This study measures how six sermons employing humor subvert expectations to give a renewed experience of Jesus’ descriptions of the Kingdom of God in the parables in Matthew’s Gospel.Twelve participants were interviewed in three sessions over six weeks to measure how effective humor is in communicating the complex and counter-cultural Kingdom of God that Jesus expresses in the parables. The group was interviewed together in three semi-structured sessions to allow participants to give their insights and experiences with limited researcher prompting.Participant responses indicate that humor indeed aided in experiencing familiar parables with a new perspective, a sense of personal interaction, and a desire to act upon the principles of the Kingdom as presented in the sermons. Humor can provide a fresh experience for preachers and congregations alike. Further study should be conducted in utilizing humor to preach texts of other biblical genres, such as the Hebrew prophets, proverbs, psalms, and epistles. Humor is a broad category, and some research into the congregation’s varied responses to specific types of humor (wit, anecdote, or satire) could be illuminating."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["http://hdl.handle.net/10898/5099"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127125105836032,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:38:56.632Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":38,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
