This church developed a social outreach ministry that called for auxilaries of the church to be assigned to a social agency or not-for-profit community outreach to provide stewardship of time, talent, and/or money.  The African American tradition of kinship inspired this study. This means that those who are not part of the dominant family are often treated as 'outsiders'.  The assumption of this thesis is that the members need to experience a shift in their thinking so that God's spiritual family, the church, becomes central to their lives rather than the biological family.  The greatness of God's spiritual family is in its power to transform people's lives and unite them as one people.
