This is intended to help churches and church members grow through pastoral transformation towards diaconial ministry through listening to a series of sermons and participation in social service activities. The dissertation is made up of a theological part and a pastoral practical part.  In the theological part, I will explore the biblical understanding of diaconia and modern theological understanding. In the practical part, I would like to suggest and practice diaconia ministry by renewing all areas of ministry. Adapting the main principle of value engineering to a ministry context resulted in an increase in faithful service among the members and a decrease in certain traditions that were hindering the effectiveness of the ministry.  Organizational efforts based on value management helped create several small groups called Little Churches. Though these Koreans have been living as Soviets under the old Soviet socialist system, their ethnic identity had been challenged since the October Revolution of 1917.  Now, after the independence of Uzbekistan in 1991, they face once more a crisis in their political and ethnic situation. Due to these circumstances, the identity of Uzbekistan Koreans has gone through changes and become assimilated into the environment. This research presents, in detail, the process of transformation of the ethnic identity of Koreans who were participants in particular historic circumstances of Uzbekistan. The research will analyze from a missiological point of view the significance of  the preservation of and the change in ethnic identity of a minority in a multi-ethnic nation, and suggests a model of mission strategy to Koreans in Uzbekistan based on that analysis. State College, the setting, where this project took place, was introduced in the first chapter of this project. I examined the biblical basis for discipleship training. The writer looked at the historical background of discipleship training and followed the works of various campus ministry groups in Korea. This ministry project analyzed the discipleship-training materials that are currently in use by churches in Korea and Korean churches in the States. With this analysis, results from the pre-survey, and the help of the Curriculum Advisory Committee, the writer created new curriculum and ran it through with the congregation via post survey. In summary, it has been determined that the curriculums created by the campus ministry groups and used by Korean churches in the States cannot be used effectively. The project is theologically grounded on the church as body of Christ and people of God and continuing Christ's ministry as diakonia. The project was based on biblical, theological, and psychological studies of spirituality, midlife, and spiritual formation, with special emphasis on Jungian perspectives, developmental psychology, and the Korean concept of han, and focusing on the issues and needs of midlife.
