In 1986 the school needed to be reorganized because it lacked clear goals and a well-defined action plan for accomplishing those goals. Also, materials used were insufficient for training members. The implementation of this project demands a sound theological foundation which included an adequate view of scripture, ministry, and the role of the local church as seen in the Assemblies of God. The biblical and historical role of the laity is discussed in order to provide an adequate basis for implementing a school of lay ministry. This biblical and historical discussion is framed by my ministry theory which encompasses an integrative understanding of God, human beings, society, and the local church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Hartford Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8e52e4c8-38b6-4846-872d-a744b4f5725d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720117328674816,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:00:52.616Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:18:57Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:39:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9910cd61-7425-4735-ba2b-fc4cc8d32169","accessControl_ssim":["f881ffc2-30cf-4b2a-969c-41dfba3ff66b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping the laity for discipling in holistic growth [Eph 4:11-16]"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:18:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:36:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3d0b8945-1067-450b-bbca-0a5fc26bff4e"],"hasLease_ssim":["854716b2-de3a-4eec-9c38-a815ad1a47e1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Northern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William R Nelson"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Marvin J Strom"],"publisher_tesim":["Northern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Christian life--Biblical teaching","Congregations","Laity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project is to devise a strategy to train the local congregation in holistic growth, i.e., maturity, koninia, service, and evangelism. The project documented a nine-month intervention process specifically designed for one parish. The important factors which contribute to trust building are familiarity, compatibility, self-disclosure and leadership styles. If a pastor is aware of these factors it may lead to a longer pastoral tenure and greater satisfaction in dealing with role expectations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134535239335937,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:36:43.486Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:44:11Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:19:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"14f5cd28-0bee-406e-ba72-9526ddfb7796","accessControl_ssim":["a848fea0-8553-4d6c-ba70-63da850231c6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A descriptive analysis of the use of organizational power by the pastor of a Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:44:10Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:44:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["23c5e651-27e0-4deb-a530-ddf8d46ba343"],"hasLease_ssim":["2b07c8d3-ec73-49e7-84b2-94f94a4e5f20"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Glenn A Koch"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David William Speerbrecker"],"keyword_tesim":["Practice (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Theology, Practical","Church management","Laity","Power (Christian theology)","Clergy"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project analyzed the perceptions of the pastor and lay leaders regarding the pastor's motives and style of using power. The thesis of this paper is twofold: 1) that a trained and working pastoral relations committee in a congregationally governed local church can be effective in resolving conflict between a congregation and pastor; 2) that judicatory personnel can be third-party consultants who train and work with the pastoral relations committee in collaborative intervention. The study brings together the disciplines of theology, history and applied social sciences to analyze and propose appropriate interventions into conflict. It recognizes the particular context of a Baptist congregation and the polity of its denomination. An analysis of the learnings concludes the study."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["795851c5-e081-4353-9c00-2c554dd1d015"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134921405759488,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:42:51.763Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":8,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
