The hypothesis was that prayer and outreach witnessing will lead to church growth in the community.  The project has been evaluated through pre-tests, post-tests, survey questionnaires and how-to workshops. The research method employed was a qualitative examination that primarily utilized the focus group method.  The author identified four summary lessons from the research.  There is a considerable need among Southern Baptist churches in Illinois for clergy evaluation processes.  There are successful feedback models that look very different.  A lay-involved process is stronger because it engages the opinions of laity and encourages teamwork. They desire a friendly, faith filled community that has an affirming and welcoming pastoral staff. The project methodology uses exploratory questions for the self-administered questionnaire, focus groups and personal interviews. The data analysis of the variables resulted in the following conclusions: 96% of the returnees actively search for a parish; they want a pastor who preaches and prays well; they want to be involved in ministry both within and beyond the parish.
