A primary premise of the work is that the systemic nature of the dichotomy is expressed in most aspects of Christianity, decreasing the potential of individual Christians to effectively live the Christian life and do the work of ministry that Christ has left for his church. A historical analysis traces the origin of the dichotomy and how the dichotomy has been codified by church structures, constitutions, and traditions. The Pauline epistles are employed to illustrate the point that the whole church has been equipped by the Holy Spirit to know and to do the theology that is proclaimed in the scriptures. Peter Senge's idea of a Learning Organization is used as an applicable methodology for mending the dichotomy. Its more horizontal outline helps the church to sanction the laity as equal partners and fellow leaders in the ministry of the church and reduces the church's tendency to reproduce chronic multitudes of perpetual followers. A question the thesis poses is developed around the idea of whether the Christian church will allow a division that looks and oftentimes feels so much like the outlawed Jim Crow laws in this country to continue to thrive, or, whether the church will submit the horrific practice of the dichotomy to the oneness of the church inaugurated by the blood of Jesus Christ."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131431343226880,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:47:23.380Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:57:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:36:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"622214c7-02e3-477f-be0f-51bcc293de68","accessControl_ssim":["e19b6724-bc1a-49b8-8c31-5e8a41f8fb6f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Partnership in the Gospel: a mutual ministry manual"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:57:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:00:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3b758765-159e-4fac-bd5b-92b8cf8d5a0e"],"hasLease_ssim":["10c31ebc-b42e-4627-a33d-f6d4b20fcd2e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bradley C Bohrer"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Douglas N Cederberg"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Religious aspects","Clergy","Church work--Handbooks, manuals","Laity","Evangelical Covenant Church--Central Conference--Great Lakes District Council","Evaluation","Partnership","Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Since the relationship between pastor and congregation is a church's most important relationship, it needs to be monitored and enhanced by a group of people in the church. The data analysis of the variables resulted in the following conclusions: 96% of the returnees actively search for a parish; they want a pastor who preaches and prays well; they want to be involved in ministry both within and beyond the parish. Finally they leave because of relocation or unfriendly pastor and membership."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721198050869248,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:18:03.273Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:40:17Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:10:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"affce111-f8dd-4421-a1b8-b1740212e6b5","accessControl_ssim":["6f1d7b63-27e1-4441-85dd-950064c26faf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Lord's Supper and eucharistic theologies of the laity: gathering audible answers about the visible signs"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:40:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:12:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["93555289-9d43-4f1b-98d2-ee175c9a7659"],"hasLease_ssim":["8203962a-7de7-44e4-b9e4-13f09bb4812f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Catherine Gunsalus González"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Charles Jarred Hammet"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Laity","Lord's Supper--Reformed Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The current discussion of the reform and recovery of Eucharistic practice is missing a working awareness of the mediatations and theology (or theologies) of the laity.
