Understanding the language differential and using particular rhetorical techniques can facilitate a clear, effective transmission of the message. The results would help to establish better, cooperative relationships between the two peoples and to help them work for the Lord together. Trying to overcome the language barrier through teaching American Christians how to praise in Korean would show the possibility of different ethnic churches working together in harmony. The thesis is based on Paul Ricoeur's linguistic theory of distanciation: standing before the text, the congregation and preacher can find new meaning.  The methodology encourages imagination in preaching and a genuine dialogue between the congregation and scripture.  It also illustrates Don S. Psychological analysis of self-development invites an assessment of the language used to describe human development. Theology calls for an examination of the language used to formulate its theories and its messages. It wrestles with communication challenges presented by semantic confusion resulting from use in both faith traditions of a common faith vocabulary with substantially different meanings. Principles of cultural anthropology are used to formulate a communication strategy. An awareness of the dimensions and possibilities for personal meaning, along with a preparation for the use of new hymn images, is explored in a series of congregational workshops.  A phenomenological approach is applied to this qualitative research project.
