Para-ministers are non-professional church workers, who serve alongside the ordained pastor who directs their efforts toward specific ministries. These persons are not bivocational pastors, associate pastors, or ministers of religious education, music, etc.  They are lay persons who are given monetary remuneration for part-time services and full-time responsibilities.  The project includes a biblical foundation and theological justification for the model along with guidelines for its implementation. The theology is based on an understanding of the imago Dei, the effects of the fall, and the potential of redemption. The theory is eclectic with three components: 1) relationship draws on Carl Rogers; 2) responsibility draws on Glasser's reality therapy; 3) religious resources draws on several pastoral counselors.  A training manual was developed and tested.
