The preacher needs to analyze the ministerial context and invite the congregation to share their concerns, interests and questions about preaching. It suggests that the preacher should withdraw his/her controlling power over the congregation so that the laity can work together with the preacher by sharing the ministry, including preaching. This project was designed to equip, enable, and empower the laity to be participants in the worship experience that would enhance outreach in the local church. The project was designed around actions that were translated into acts of worship: equipping and encouraging greeters, sharing a life story or personal testimony, dramatic presentations on a youth Sunday and during the celebration of the first Sunday of Advent and Thanksgiving. The director researched available resources on spiritual gifts to develop a training curriculum consisting of six equipping sessions.  Participants learned about the biblical principles of spiritual gifts as well as current ministry opportunities in their church.  The director measured the project's effectiveness through the commitment of participants, group dialogue and assessment, and personal reflection.
