The project director researched the biblical teachings, doctrinal foundations, and related literature on evangelism, assimilation, and team building. He Developed and utilized a workshop for the project implementation at the church. Twelve lay leaders attended the six-session workshop. An analysis was done of the practice in Nebraska from 2000 to 2009. The knowledge and skill sets required by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church nationally were also analyzed. The current Nebraska practices and the national sets recommended were compared to best practice as seen in entry level seminary preaching courses. The author explored the implications of missional ecclesiology for leadership and the connection between leadership and imagination.  The author formed and led a six-month group for lay leadership development in which participants considered claims of missional ecclesiology vis-a-vis the congregation's context.
