Evangelical Anglicans are impelled by both Scripture and mission to consider the New Testament pattern of plural local leaders or elders. This research explored the experience of Anglican ministers and church planters who established locally-shared shared pastoral leadership through a Ministry Leadership Team (MLT).The purpose of the research was to explore the benefits of shared leadership for making and maturing disciples. In surveying the literature advocating the benefits and biblical precedents of shared leadership, it was noted that in contrast to other evangelicals, Anglicans apply the biblical data using the Normative Principle derived from the work of Richard Hooker. Four questions guided the research: (1) How does the local church’s shepherding ministry strengthen the work of making disciples? (2) What are the benefits of a ministry leadership team in the work of making disciples? (3) What practices have promoted collaborative working between members of the ministry leadership team, with particular regard to the work of making disciples Church? (4) How is the pastors’ Anglican self-identity manifest in the practice of shared local ministry leadership?Nine UK pastors were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire with the data analyzed using the constant comparative method. Common and clear benefits are articulated by the respondents. The lay offices of churchwarden and PCC were also re- evaluated with respect to the responsibilities outlined in the New Testament for churchofficers. The respondents exhibited a clear and confessional Anglican identity. Possible models for accommodating a MLT within the existing parochial structures are explored. What is the church to do? This project emerges as more germane than I ever imagined, proposing the answer to that question as, “Contemplation.” The project begins broadly with the questions, “What is contemplation?” and “Why might contemplation be crucial for Christ-followers?” Contemplation is prayer, presence, and a carriage into loving connection with God, others, and self with whole heart, mind, soul, and body. Having assessed that contemplation is crucial, the project explores, “What does deliberate contemplation imply for the formation of ministry leaders?” a question particularly relevant to my seminary context. The work narrows to a proposed strategy for contemplative leadership development: a four day formation retreat for first year Master of Divinity students, with enneagram content and contemplative framing. Next, research addresses the question of the effectiveness of such a strategy in forming contemplative leaders. By all accounts, the formation retreat strategy turns out to be very effective. The project concludes with a personal accounting of my own prayer journey into contemplation; a journey which has shaped the quality of my relationship with God, the course of my vocation, and the characteristics of my leadership. Local community leaders who meet regularly to discern what God is already doing in their community and world can find creative and faithful ways of participating in God’s redemptive mission. Moving repeatedly through the Circle of Faith-in-Action can help leaders develop greater Awareness of the people and situations around them, do practical and theological Analysis of what is happening, and respond through Action that not only meets short-term needs but addresses long-term development of health and flourishing in their communities. By the work of the Holy Spirit, their actions result in a new situation that bears developing new awareness and analysis, leading to further action for the sake of God’s reign. The Circle of Faith-in-Action becomes an upward spiral. As people are seized by the power of the gospel, they discover imaginative ways to engage with the reign of God which is already renewing our broken world, through Jesus Christ. The first goal toward fulfilling that purpose is to be transformed from a trained servant or service-providing clergyman to an equipping leader or a training pastor. The second goal is to create and implement a plan for developing leaders. The third goal is to introduce and encourage leadership development by mentoring in our men’s ministry.The first goal was approached through writing a revised job description, and keeping a diary of time spent in leadership development. The second goal involved developing a leadership development curriculum focusing on leadership concepts, character and competency. Nehemiah was chosen for study as the Biblical example of a godly leader. Leading a small group was selected as the ministry for developing competency. Mentoring was the method for implementing the curriculum. Three mentors each selected one mentoree to train and develop. The third goal involved developing a series of teaching lessons on leadership development through mentoring. These lessons were presented at our monthly men’s breakfasts.The proposed mentoring process revealed that the equipping leaders need precise instructions and accountability for carrying out the mentoring of the emerging leaders. Christ-like character formation is a lifelong process, of course, but specific steps can be taken to engage in this process of transformation. The purpose of this project is to develop, teach, and evaluate a Christian character formation program for pastors and Christian leaders in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The philosophical, theological, and biblical foundations of Christian character formation are reviewed. A Christ-like character formation program was developed and implemented. A focus group of pastors and Christian leaders was organized to test the effectiveness of this program. Pastors and leaders in this study developed a conviction that Christ-like character formation is possible, their relationship with God deepened, and they were willing to practice spiritual disciplines with the purpose of developing Christ-like character. Furthermore, it sought to discover effective pedagogical principals and methods to be employed in teaching the material to the anticipated participants, adult Mongolian learners.         The methodological research was based on a qualitative methods strategy. Eleven information-rich Mongolian Christian leaders were interviewed using an eight-question ethnographic protocol instrument. Two Mongolian university professors, representatives of the sociological and anthropological sciences, and two expatriate missionaries resident in the country for over ten years and involved in developing leaders were also interviewed using the instrument.          Research also included study of contemporary scholarly leadership literature, both secular and Christian. The research sought to unearth contemporary thinking about leadership’s essence and exercise in the Mongolian culture. Biblical study of representative, Godly leaders in search of the leadership principles that characterize their lives and ministry was undertaken in conjunction with the qualitative and literary research.        The key conclusion of the project research was that in spite of a cultural preponderance of dictatorial leadership, ethnographic respondents, literature, and biblical study indicated that a leadership curriculum for Mongolian Christian leaders should focus on the dynamics of servant leadership, as espoused in the Bible, and it’s practical application in Mongolian society. This study was designed using applied qualitative research, specifically a case study of six men who participated in a discipleship group for nine months. Nurturing leadership is needed in order to develop and grow congregants. The purpose of this study was to investigate how senior pastors develop their congregants through nurturing leadership. Research questions:  How do senior pastors develop their congregants in spiritual renewal, spiritual gifts? The challenges that they face and the benefits gain. Eight pastors were interviewed, using a qualitative semi-structured format, and data was analyzed using the constant comparative method.  Using nurturing leadership pastors renew, transform, grow and develop their congregant spiritual gifts.
