The project director researched pertinent skills needed for effective cross-cultural mission work in order to prepare FBCG members for efficient service. Furthermore, this project led to the development of a curriculum that will be used to train and equip select FBCG members in cross-cultural mission skills. The project director's equipping of members is key for stronger impact and success in FBCG short-term mission trips. In addition to equipping FBCG members, the project director sought to accomplish two professional goals. The first goal was to increase the project director's knowledge of cross-cultural mission skills. The attainment of this goal guided the director in equipping individuals for more efficient cross-cultural service. As a second goal, the project director sought to increase his skills in instructional theory and practice, which should lead to better communication skills and leadership abilities."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718474876977152,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:34:46.252Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:44:47Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:35:22Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9c597fb8-e0fb-4a9a-bf92-8b15e07c177e","accessControl_ssim":["3493eeba-ad03-4763-a573-55733cece80b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Selected studies for a reflection on leadership growth in presbyterian (PCUSA) churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:44:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:42:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["89844e40-277c-41de-9d16-c114966796dd"],"hasLease_ssim":["cf52aa2c-60e5-40fe-af50-1206bbbee314"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Brad Smith"],"year_tesim":["2015"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Bryan C Stamper"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Church polity","Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)","Church growth","Membership"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis of this dissertation focuses on the idea that medium-sized Presbyterian Churches in the PCUSA offer a unique opportunity for growth within a denomination experiencing declining membership. This paper starts with an identification of common factors for church growth, then specifically exposits systematic changes that can be implemented in PCUSA churches to create a healthier culture. The hypotheses of this paper describe three areas of potential change to grow healthier medium-sized PCUSA churches: the size of the local church leadership board, the implementation of policy governance practices, and the introduction of transformational leadership training in the local church. There are so many expectations upon pastors and it is very difficult to know where to focus our energies and efforts. This research includes a survey of 45 Disciple pastors and the congregations they serve. The results were that church vitality is directly related to certain pastoral leadership practices. The conclusions are as follows: The role of the pastor is to be a visionary bridge building leader. The role of the pastor is to lead his/her congregation into a deeper Christian spirituality. The role of the pastor is to help lead the congregation toward developing more fluid/organic governance structures. The researcher identified three areas that are central to this process: reproducible evangelism and discipleship, reproducible church planting, and reproducible leadership. The researcher studied the effect of short cycle multiplicative discipleship growth, rather than simple church incremental growth, focusing on instances where the pastor utilized the CPM methodology. The study employed a qualitative design, using semi-structured interviews with nine demographically diverse pastors from five different denominations. The unit of analysis was the method used for successful discipleship multiplication, and the data was analyzed using the constant comparative method. The findings indicated that the pastors who took the catalytic role of igniting discipleship movements modeled discipleship for their congregations not only by teaching, but by actually fulfilling the Great Commission, looking for persons of peace, initiating DBS groups with unchurched people, and creating a cascade of multigenerational discipleship."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131401761849344,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:46:55.169Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":781,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
