The contemporary literary foundation of the project is the concept of shared vision as described by Peter Senge. The research was done with five leadership teams within the congregation to determine the level to which they are vision-driven. One of the last sections of the project was to analyze, compile, tabulate, and summarize the feedback results from each of the measurement vehicles used during the executing of these goals. A descriptive survey was conducted. The study identified the enormous impact of Confucianism on the leadership challenges of SBC alumnae. The alumnae's top ten leadership challenges include overcommitment, burnout, perfectionism, overly high expectation of oneself, balancing family and ministry, balancing motherhood and ministry, conflict resolution, implementing change in ministry, decision making, and excessive concern over the criticism toward oneself. Ten husbands of female pastors in the House of God Church were identified to define their role as the 'first gentleman.' The methodology was approached from a pastoral counselor's perspective. Strategies of brief counseling theory (Stone, 2001) were used to develop survey and interview questions for the participants. It presents research conducted by examining the staff listings found on congregational websites, analyzing denominational statistics on non-clergy compensation, and surveying lay church staff and pastors. It finds that an estimated 40,000 lay staff work in United Methodist congregations.
