The author traces the historical, cultural, and other significant factors that have influenced Filipino men and their leadership development.  He also points out practices in the Roman Catholic religion and in the Protestant mission groups that have contributed to the lack of Filipino male leaders in the Philippine Christian church. The author then proceeds to take a fresh look at what the Scripture says about evangelism and church growth.  He then attempts to apply these qualities in the Philippine cultural context. If so, is it also possible for leadership style to have a positive effect on members' participation?  The purpose of this project is to determine the relationship between pastoral leadership style and church membership participation and to design a model of leadership style that can enhance membership participation.  The project affirmed that style can be a contributing factor to membership participation but there is not one style that will always enhance membership participation. Women may not be adequately prepared to assume such leadership positions.  Power and authority are important issues identified by women in pastoral ministry.  Feminist understandings of power and authority are examined from theological, historical and psychological perspectives. Principles of a feminist theory and theology of leadership are applied to case studies of women currently ministering in solo pastor, senior pastor and co-pastor positions.
