This dissertation deals particularly with Wesley's emphasis on the dignity of man, the possibilities of grace, total stewardship, and God's perfect love expressed through man.  This doctrinal background was reflected in the social and political action which characterized John Wesley and the Wesleyan movement of the eighteenth century. The author researched Wesley's sermons, diary, letters and treatises, and read several textbooks on liberation theology, to discover similarities and contrasts. This field project sought to rectify this situation within a very limited population by studying the reality of oppression from a black theological perspective with the congregation served by the author. Introduction of black theology to a black congregation helped determine the impact of these concepts on black Christians and develop information that could be used to structure future lectures on black theology for black congregations. Three main studies were included:  first, a study of the size and location of churches having produced Conservative Baptist foreign missionaries; second, a survey of Conservative Baptist churches to determine the number of missionaries and other Christian workers produced by those churches; third, a six-part program to promote missionary interest in rural churches.  The program was tested in five churches. Exploratory research and theological correlation procedures were employed.  The project conceptualizes how liberation ministry can best serve the needs of the estranged person in this church.  The model for pastoral care in the institutional geriatric church represents theory building.
