Its historical and theological roots, sociological aspects, and theoretical framework are examined.  This theology is compared to other forms of liberation theology.  Its biblical themes, relationship to Marxism, and use of the hermeneutical circle are analyzed.  The positive elements, criticisms, responses to its critics, and the current status of this type of theology are reviewed.  The project includes an evangelical response to revolutionary liberationism. The method of study included research, a five-week study curriculum and three questionnaires.  The goals of the curriculum led to the consideration of a Unitarian Universalist theology of liberation (and other meaningful insights), but not enough time was allotted to measure motivation for church outreach.  The challenge facing liberal religion in an age of 'theology from below' is addressed by this study.
