Recruits attending the Lutheran Communion Service and catechetical instruction at MCRD, San Diego, CA, expressed grave concern over the morality of killing in combat. This project explored the pastoral care of Marine Recruits using Luther's explanation of the Fifth Commandments, the Fourth Commandment, and the historic just war tradition. The project confirmed the utility of the Catechetical module of the Fifth Commandment to inform the Christian's moral reasoning and ethical decision making in his God pleasing vocation as a warrior."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis, MO)"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c233458a-014a-46a2-aa34-c5309c85f7e6"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126723592454144,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:32:33.719Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:48:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:43:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"35cd4f07-5d83-4b92-8628-1467ed2a94fc","accessControl_ssim":["55a0fd66-75b2-49a9-b557-36dcca61c05c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The medieval art of dying and its application for our time"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:48:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:41:05Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["74c01a90-b0fb-4825-bb10-de5ac5487697"],"hasLease_ssim":["d70efc0f-2774-4f02-836e-7ec0ab7b72de"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Sondra Ely Wheeler"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. It concludes that Martin Luther's teaching on prayer is intertwined with his justification by faith and the Theology of the Cross. Those who pray receive God's grace.
