An experientially oriented four-session course was developed for 42 ninth-grade confirmands and their parents.  Five instructors were trained as small group leaders.  A pre-test and post-test was administered to the confirmands and parents, and a follow-up interview was conducted by the two pastors. Conclusions are: 1) Careful attention to educational theory and practice pays dividends; 2) Work with the group leaders was necessary to the success of the program; 3) The evaluative tools provided a focus for the entire study by keeping the work on target; 4) The intergenerational scope of the project was vital to the confirmands' and parents' learning and to the enrichment of their understanding of ministry; 5) A new understanding of 'the priesthood of all believers' enhanced appreciation of their own Christian ministries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719955121307648,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:58:17.923Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:14:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:52:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3563fbb2-04c3-420c-ba5a-2b98b7157b4e","accessControl_ssim":["dd6470d9-220a-4b22-80d0-418b995a7db9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The congregation in crisis: a contextual approach to managing conflict between neo-Pentecostal authoritarianism and Lutheranism"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:14:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:40:18Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["18103971-0214-432d-9222-52c72eec3035"],"hasLease_ssim":["70db0519-083d-482e-b780-86f7252a5927"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John K Luoma"],"year_tesim":["1981"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John E Northcott"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (OH)"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy","Social conflict","Lutheran Church","Authoritarianism","Pentecostalism--Lutheran Church","Church work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This writer's program thesis puts forth the proposition that unresolved conflict between a controlled and an enabled concept of Christianity as precipitated by the encounter between negative pseudo neo-Pentecostal authoritarianism and traditional Lutheran patterns of ministry and church life can be resolved and managed successfully within the contextual setting.  The method of study is a systematic analysis of every facet and/or component that constitutes the total setting of crisis conflict.  The conflict resolution methodology is dialogical interaction between the various components within the contextual setting. It proposed to examine how men and women within a congregation perceived women's role in an effort to identify, clarify, and change attitudes for mutual ministry.  The vehicle for this research used a dialectical methodology of combined biblical studies and social science methods.  The expectation of the hypothesis was that significant changes in attitudes would take place.  The conclusion indicated that the participants made significnt changes in their attitudes with the resulting perception that women have a complementary and equal role to men within the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717070403796992,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:12:26.842Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Erik Russell Saxvik","hits":1,"label":"Erik Russell Saxvik"},{"value":"Glenn E Niebling","hits":1,"label":"Glenn E Niebling"},{"value":"John E Northcott","hits":1,"label":"John E Northcott"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Lutheran Church","hits":3,"label":"Lutheran Church"},{"value":"Age groups","hits":1,"label":"Age groups"},{"value":"Attitude (Psychology)","hits":1,"label":"Attitude (Psychology)"},{"value":"Authoritarianism","hits":1,"label":"Authoritarianism"},{"value":"Biblical teaching","hits":1,"label":"Biblical teaching"},{"value":"Christian education","hits":1,"label":"Christian education"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"Oklahoma--Edmond","hits":1,"label":"Oklahoma--Edmond"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":3,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Luther Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Luther Seminary"},{"value":"Phillips Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Phillips Theological Seminary"},{"value":"United Theological Seminary (OH)","hits":1,"label":"United Theological Seminary (OH)"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":3,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1981","hits":3,"label":"1981"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Miscellaneous","hits":1,"label":"Miscellaneous"},{"value":"Phillips Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Phillips Theological Seminary"},{"value":"United Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"United Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Luther Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Luther Seminary"},{"value":"Phillips Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Phillips Theological Seminary"},{"value":"United Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"United Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":3,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":3,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
