The study was comprised of interviews of couples who have been married for twenty-five years or longer. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with seven Christian couples. The study revealed that these couples work through conflict respectfully and gently. They convey acceptance and respect in the midst of working through disagreements. During the first phase of this project, research was conducted to provide content for a workshop to train selected deacons in basic marriage counseling skills and healthy relationships. The second phase included development of the workshop training curriculum and enlistment of selected deacons. The third phase of this project was the implementation phase where the project director presented the curriculum during seven training sessions. Teaching methodologies included lecture, group discussions, participant interaction, and visual illustrations.
