The project examined the literature of premarital counseling, determined through surveys what pastors in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod South and North Wisconsin Districts are presently using in their ministries, and determined through surveys what premarital counseling the married members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church had. This research led to development and implementation of a six-session premarital counseling program and a manual covering six topics and designed for couples to keep throughout their marriage. The thesis was that with couples enlisted and mentors trained, the young marriages would give evidence of being strengthened through the guidance of the middle-aged couples.  Pretests were the Dyadic Adjustment Scales (DAS) and the Marital Satisfaction Scale (MSS).  Weekly enrichment sessions included mentoring time after the director's lectures on eight aspects of marriage. The hypothesis was that couples would experience a greater degree of marital satisfaction after having participated in the program. Eight engaged couples participated in the program which was developed by the author.  Each of the couples took the PREPARE marital inventory at the beginning (pre-test) and end (post-test) of the program to measure the progress of the couples and the effectiveness of the program.
