The researcher designed and implemented an 8-week, 15-hour counseling program to help Christian couples develop greater intimacy through learning how to put off pride and pursue biblically-based, Christ-centered humility before God, in their view of self, and in relationship with one another. The primary objective was to educate couples on eight dimensions of intimacy and measure the impact on satisfaction and commitment. It was hypothesized that after receiving the education, couples would report increases in intimacy, satisfaction, and commitment. A convenience sample of ten couples participated in a twelve week marital enrichment program. Results indicated that participating in the program increased marital satisfaction and strengthened commitment. The results of the study provided evidence that understanding biblical marriage and small groups had an impact on the participants' understanding of God's biblical view of marriage. The community found in small groups helped to successfully impact the participants' views of marriage, which were validated through the data. A closer look at relevant passages in the scripture shows that the validity of such a concept is questionable. A biblical theology of marital oneness is developed that shows God's original intent for a married couple was to procreate and have dominion over the earth together as equal partners. Hierarchy in marriage as seen in many marriages throughout history is a result of the fallen condition of humankind, not the original blue print for marriage as designed by God. A survey of Bible passages addressing marriage comprises chapter 2, and chapter 3 presents a survey of current literature in support of the lecture themes.  Chapters 4 and 5 tell the story and assess the success of series, respectively. Results of the study showed significant improvement on some marital satisfaction instruments, while showing no significant improvement on others.  Groups led by lay facilitators were just as likely to show increase in marital satisfaction as were groups led by the researcher and his wife.
