The project examined the literature of premarital counseling, determined through surveys what pastors in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod South and North Wisconsin Districts are presently using in their ministries, and determined through surveys what premarital counseling the married members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church had. This research led to development and implementation of a six-session premarital counseling program and a manual covering six topics and designed for couples to keep throughout their marriage. Second, a series of five sermons and five growth seminars were conducted with some married couples and persons contemplating marriage. Third, pre- and post-questionnaires were distributed in order to assess the understanding of what is being discussed.  From the comments that were made, the program seemed to have been a success.  Couples expressed improved mutual understanding and a desire to learn more.  The participants reached a better understanding of mutual intimacy, effective communication, mutual forgiveness, and marital maturation. In this project/dissertation the writer has constructed a research of the married life of participants and administered an experiment for nine weeks. The methodology in this project to measure the improvement of the marriage enrichment was for the experimental and control groups to take two tests: a pre-test before the program, and a post-test three months after the end of the program.
