The author identifies disturbing news in human struggles that are rooted in abuses of power that result in discrimination and neglect. She discusses the development of mass media and the influence of politics and economics on news production. The course of instruction was developed on the basis of interviews with nine church leaders and the administration of a questionnaire to 120 randomly chosen young Egyptian Christians.
