Chapter 1 traces the history of Hunter Street Baptist Church, goals, rationale, and limitations of the project.  Chapter 2 contains an overview of the biblical and theological aspects of 'church,' and uses the biblical image to springboard into a rationale for the purposes of the church, and the fulfillment of the Great Commission and Great Commandment of Jesus Christ.  Chapter 3 looks at the mentor/mentoree relationship with the objective of healthy church growth training as an extension of the ministries of Hunter Street Baptist Church.  An analysis of the biblical guidelines for the mentor relationship is included in this chapter. Chapters 4 and 5 examine specific ministry focus and goals in the actual mentor/mentoree relationship offered to partner churches from Hunter Street Baptist Church.  Included are strategies to implement the development of healthy churches and growing congregations. In addition to the results of a needs assessment, the Old and the New Testaments provided guidance for establishing mentoring relationships. The project includes comprehensive guidance on (1) developing a quality mentoring program; (2) recruiting, training and supporting older male mentors, and (3) evaluating the results. This project is a cooperative model in which both the mentor and the mentee are obligated to one another and each is responsible to God. The booklet was tested over a five-month period ending with a threefold evaluation.  The project calls for leaders to model Christ for the mentorees.  The report discusses mentoring as exemplified in scripture, and summarizes the difficulties, benefits and lessons learned from the project.  It concludes that mentoring can be done in Cameroon if pastors are appropriately equipped and encouraged. He used the qualitative research methodology to guide the project. The result of the study was the discovery of twelve important elements of a mentoring relationship. The author learned that these elements, when consistently emphasized, should lead to a gospel-centered, grace-oriented mentoring strategy that will avoid the extremes of cheap grace and moralism.
