This project shared the concerns of the church in losing emerging adults after they graduate from high school. The project explored the concerns of the emerging adult generation. The literature research included the writings of Chap Clark, Kara E. Powell, David Kinnaman, Corey Seemiller, Meghan Grace, Pew Research, and others. This qualitative research project focused on how to train leaders to lead a small group of emerging adults. This project was conducted in three phases. The first phase presented in a six-part sermon series to the congregation. The second phase interviewed emerging adult participants. The third phase trained small group leaders to lead emerging adults. This project helped the congregation, and small group leaders, to have a better understanding of emerging adults. The small group leaders gained confidence in leading emerging adults. The pastor learned to be sensitive to the needs, interests, and values of the emerging adults in his congregation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717742013579264,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:23:07.339Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:30:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:35:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3de3a8bb-74e4-4f96-a216-03ff63a43922","accessControl_ssim":["04812bd0-1351-4926-9975-c0394a5c370a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Hermeneutical Meditation At Fountain Of Life: Fostering A Habitual Interaction With Scripture Among Millennials"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:30:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:55:38Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3f071edf-e3a4-46c6-8638-4ba0b4913530"],"hasLease_ssim":["078e042a-e91d-4a96-8f26-ab43f1ff6511"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Pastoral ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["William Donahue Ph.D.","Steven Roy Ph.D.","Doug Sweeney Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The author asserts that properly interpreting the Scriptures as well as properly interpreting oneself in light of the Scriptures is paramount for life change. The study especially focused on cultivating this habit among Millennials.Method: After submitting a questionnaire to the congregation at large and facilitating pre-seminar interviews with a volunteer group of Millennials from the congregation, the author implemented a six-session seminar designed to cultivate “hermeneutical meditation” among the Millennials who volunteered. Post-seminar interviews were then facilitated in order to discern the results of the effort. Conclusion:The seminar could be improved, but after the implementation and interviews, it is clear that fostering hermeneutical meditation through a seminar format was effective for helping Christians (especially in this case, Millennials) grow in life transformation through their habitual interaction with Scripture."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718491285094400,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:35:01.899Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:12:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d5974060-a701-464d-b43e-4403936edff5","accessControl_ssim":["235fd007-817a-4cf3-a2fc-970a492f1a8e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Establishing a Biblical Marriage Mentorship Program at First Baptist Church in Midlothian, TX"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:14:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["048dd01e-703f-4140-947a-bd9cd534318c"],"hasLease_ssim":["4619be7a-8901-47c9-90ad-b03c07a0ce4e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Educational Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Family Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Shane Parker Ph.D.","Jonathan Williams Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Ed.Min. Chapter 1 introduces the problem, need, and purpose of the project. The thesis states that first-year married couples will show more commitment to the teachings of Scripture as a foundation to a lifetime of marriage after being mentored in a curriculum centered on those Scriptures. Chapter 2 includes the biblical and theological foundations for developing a marriage mentor curriculum that will help first-year married couples understand why God established marriage. The theology of marriage, mentorship, and Christian education are treated in the chapter. This chapter also includes a review of related literature. Chapter 3 details the writer’s goals, limitations, and plan for his project. The researcher will support the thesis statement and describe the process by which it was addressed through the project.Chapter 4 explains in detail the writer’s formation of his workshop material. This chapter will give the reader an overview of the training material as well as the curriculum utilized in carrying out the couple-to-couple mentorship.Chapter 5 provides a detailed evaluation demonstrating the results of the project implementation. The researcher related the research that supports the thesis statement through the results of the surveys taken by the newlywed couples. Chapter 6 is a summary section. As a pastor in the EMCC, I was given permission to explore pastors’ experiences of mentorship and how their mentorship experiences through Southland had positively or negatively influenced their development. This exploration was accomplished through a series of interviews with those who had completed a portion of Southland Church’s mentorship model. Throughout this portfolio I shared my own leadership experience and journey, incorporating my philosophy of ministry in regards to mentorship. The experiences of these pastors were collected through interviews, in order to assess the outcomes of this mentorship model. Interview data was coded and analyzed for similarities between pastors. A set of recommendations and best practices for the EMCC was developed from the research, and shared with an expert panel that included denominational leaders. The interactions of the expert panel identified outcomes and conclusions for this portfolio. The recommendations focused on accountability in mentorship, cohort-based learning, and clear parameters for the mentoring relationship. The discussion of these outcomes led to the creation of a model of local church leader mentoring that was based on the identified values of mentorship by the expert panel, and will become the framework for my role in developing leaders at my local church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133641701588992,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:22:31.342Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:12:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:23:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"976d6eb8-2eee-4697-85cb-d420b175ea20","accessControl_ssim":["c7dc832a-482a-4ea8-bdd3-e63e4598d94e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Grace Leads to Joy: Spiritual Formation and the Examen"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:12:10Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:33:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d6448a7e-21fb-4ea8-bfaa-bfdfd7f1c953"],"hasLease_ssim":["5e871a90-10ba-4725-882a-2b562d687272"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["Canada","Malawi","Netherlands"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Hoekstra, Edward Pierre"],"keyword_tesim":["Tests and measurements in religion","Practice (Theology)"],"subject_tesim":["Discipling (Christianity)","Commitment to the church","Kingdom of God","Beatitudes","Reformed Church","Bible.
