The initial purpose was to create ministries that were target specific for the Buster generation and to utilize spiritually-gifted people to create and sustain those ministries. This mixed method research utilized surveys, interviews, and observations to determine the outcome. Mentors were enlisted for training in biblical principles concerning the ministry of mentorship, the happy functioning of a Christian family, and the distinctive biblical teachings concerning the various family roles. Training consisted of four sessions which were held on a Friday evening and a Saturday morning as part of a seminar for senior adults. The project director wrote and presented a vision for mentoring ministry and the path for the steps needed to achieve the vision. The experiences of planning the seminar, teaching the seminar, and evaluating the seminar provided valuable insight into the process of training senior adult mentors. The project director became convinced that faithful Christian senior adults are the greatest untapped resource for instruction and encouragement in family living for younger adults. Project participants took a pre-test to determine the level of their knowledge of deacon ministry, their understanding of the biblical qualities of a deacon's life, and their comfort level if they were to be chosen as a deacon. Peer mentoring is widely used in many fields today.  From secular and Christian insights, a peer-mentoring program for preachers was designed, implemented, and tested. It is concerned with questions about the current nature of mentoring within the Free Will Baptist denomination especially , its educational institutions.  The primary premise of the work is that there is no formal structure for the mentoring of a new generation of ministers available to ministry students at Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College.  The benefits to the student, mentor, church, and institution warrant development of such a formal structure to provide mentoring of ministry students.  The thesis begins with an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of Hillsdale College's current ministry training program. The concept of mentoring is defined as one in which the more skilled or more experienced person, serving as a role model, teachers, sponsors, encourages, counsels, and befriends, a less skilled or less experienced person for the purpose of promoting the latter's professional and or personal development.  This process must be done within the context of an ongoing caring relationship. Mentoring, or life-into-life ministry, is the most intense form of community and therefore holds potential to stimulate the most intense spirituality. In a survey of current literature, this study noted the dramatic explosion of mentoring into the everyday life of our culture.  The current relevance and effectiveness of the biblical, historical, and current insights on mentoring were tested among seminary students and women's lay ministries and a paradigm for mentoring was constructed from the results.
