The author of this paper interviewed ten senior pastors within the Tuckahoe Baptist Association to address the lack of intentional mentoring of associate ministers by senior pastors. Currently, there is no known model for training or mentoring associates ministers. Pastors were to select a group of men from their churches to participate in leadership development through a mentoring process that would cultivate a disciple relationship and develop their skills in a ministry setting under the tutelage of a mentor coach. The project was a success. The project engaged fourteen members in a one-on-one, seamless electronic mentoring relationship with a mentor. The leaders then mentored other church members through the mentorship model. The project demonstrated that one-on-one mentoring relationship using electronic means is an effective way to create learning which leads to the knowledge and practice of the spiritual disciplines. Purposeful, criterion sampling provided females pastors who had or did not have mentors during seminary-to-church transition and women who mentored female pastors during the mentees' transitional periods. Data collection involved face-to-face interviews. Findings indicated that women pastors encountered ministry adaptation, competency, and fulfillment problems during seminary-to-church transition. The aim of this study is to show churches can use a mentoring model to help experienced teachers transfer practical knowledge to trainees and multiply available, trained teachers. A secondary aim is to show that the mentoring model matches biblical principles. This study, through an integrative review and critical analysis of literature, explores the biblical, theological foundations of teacher training, surveys the development of teacher training in the church, and based on the Bible and history presents a model for teacher apprenticeship. The author facilitated a series of seminar-workshops that were guided by two action research cycles and appreciative inquiry. Participant interaction during the workshops provided data which was supplemented by focus groups, natural observation and interviews. Positive mentoring relationships have been initiated that promise to lead to a mentoring culture in the context. The author used a survey and a review of the medical literature to identify the obstacles and facilitators of spiritual growth during internship. Then she designed a curriculum of twelve Bible lessons which were piloted by mentor-intern pairs. Many obstacles prevented mentors and interns from adequately piloting the curriculum, although those who did use the curriculum found it very helpful. The author created a formal clergy mentoring program consisting of eleven dyads. He recruited the participants, commenced program training, and conducted feedback using written forms and interviews. The clergy mentoring program sufficiently demonstrated the value of clergy mentoring. Eight of the eleven mentoring relationships successfully brought about fruit within the mentees and their ministry settings. Some are involved in music department ensembles which require their participation, several are over-involved in leadership activities, and others have rigorous majors. These student leaders need at least two formational realities: a spiritual formation model that does not add another layer of activity to their already hectic lives, and an intentional formational relationship with a pastoral educator-mentor who can help them engage in meaningful practices of Christian spiritual formation and deepen their skills in worship leadership. Distinctive pilot groups allowed the author to research, investigate, and delineate ideas and models for intentional formation mentoring.
